Re: towing to rushmore

We were in the Black Hills in August, very nice.

We did notice the hills, no problem with power of brakes.

After 200Kmi on my old Powerstroke, I'm loving our Dodge.

Presently in Connecticut, right after the holidays, we are going to Alaska, Via Mexico!

Re: Removing Hitch From Truck Bed

SuperGlide weighs about #400.

It is abut 75% in the front, the hitch will not lift straight up with the pin box.

Re: Removing Hitch From Truck Bed

we have many times just left it on the front of the trailer. Just pull the pins and press extend :thumbrt: We used to pull engines from the rafters, the key is to distribute the load, We put a driveshaft across 4 or 5 rafters and hung a chain thru the ceiling. What size rafters/joists do you have? ...

We are about 6 months from relocating into the Livingston area as a start on fulltiming. I'm thinking that we will squat there a little and than start to roam as the notion {and weather}take us. We are new to this forum, been camping about 30 years it all sorts of rigs.

Re: Pull Rite CAptive Plate

Thanks for reply, I'm much more comfortable if it's removable in case of trouble on the road. Not too happy that I will not be able to go and rescue someone else's 5th if they are in grief.

Pull Rite CAptive Plate

My Bird has a Fabrex Pin box. Not sure of the model number. The rig is about 200 miles away.

I've got the hitch, rails & custom brackets for my truck.

Now, I need captive plate.

Will the 'Universal', bolt-on captive plate work? Setting up to weld it will be a logistics nightmare.

Re: SuperGlide Newby <<HELP>>

I understand the the 'Capture Plate must be there to have the hitch lock up. Certainly not a plus feature. Next question, If you truck fails, can a conventional hitch hook-up with said plated welded on?

SuperGlide Newby <<HELP>>

I've been towing 5th wheels for 15 years We have new {to us} Cardinal and Dodge P/U. I found a #3300 Superglide w/rails&pins locally at a very good price. It is sitting in the bed of my tuck, too heavy for me to move it! I am not planning on installing the hitch until spring, could work on it th...

Re: Banks Exhaust Braking

My Dad was a processing engineer for Jacobs when they teamed with Cummings in the mid-60's on Brake design and production. One of it's benefits was that it kept the cold hearted diesels warm when going down long grades. Old trucks had to cover their radiators due to excessive cooling. If your transm...

LED Flashers on 08 Doge RAM Mirror addon

My new truck has towing mirrors, they do not incorporate t/s flashers. I'd really like to add some. Anyone BTDT? Are there kits to do it, I can find none. Bad come to worse, I could add a couple on LED clearance lights to the arms. Still looking for direct replacement LEDs to replace the Bargeman #9...

Re: Who here Pulls w/ a 7.3 Powerstroke?

I'm general very much unimpressed with 'upgrades' The powertrain was engineered to work as a team. If you 'chip", you will find the weak part. As so on. 'Improving' the air intake or exhaust has never been proven to me {3rd part independent research lab} to improve power or mileage. Diesel are ...

Re: Who here Pulls w/ a 7.3 Powerstroke?

With the '95 PSD {2WD Auto} I could plan on 10MPG. It would do 18mpg empty. YMMV In the south {FLAT} it would do better. In Vermont, I wouldn't calculate it ;-). Stay at 65MPH, use O/D only if it's not hunting on and off. My Ford rusted out in about 15 years. Gave it to my grandson, I doubt that the...
