Re: Cummins Fined $1.68B for falsifying emissions

Update on Cummins Recall. Trucks that are 2019 + are not being recalled.(yet?) Trucks that are 2013 up to build date Oct 1, 2019 are being recalled but it sounds like a software fix but that is still uncertain. This Youtube explains it all in 10 minutes with the ridiculous use of the fine proceeds a...

Re: Cummins Fined $1.68B for falsifying emissions

This is good news. Too many people have Cummins engines. My first diesel was a 2004.5 Dodge. Cummins 5.9L. That thing was a beast but boy did it belch smoke.

Re: Cummins Fined $1.68B for falsifying emissions

What is strange is EPA went after Cummins but not Ram??
I would not be buying a Cummins in the near term and I really like the Cummins engine (just not the Ram trannies!).

Cummins Fined $1.68B for falsifying emissions

The EPA just gave Cummins the largest fine ever for falsifying emissions tests and records. Listening to a couple of Ram truck bloggers, this is really a mess because it is unclear what Ram Trucks’ liability as EPA only went after Cummins and further EPA limited the fine to non-commercial (I.e, no S...

Re: A Tow Vehicle religious question

Well, I pulled the trigger last week and bought a used ‘22 Chevy LTZ SRW std bed, diesel, fully loaded with 12.4k miles. After looking for 3 months (and letting a couple get away) I found this one in ST Louis. I flew out and drove it home, still saving $6k over the best deal I could find in NC. My s...

Marv, what is this “California legal” you speak of? Are there rules against carrying extra fuel in CA?

Re: A Tow Vehicle religious question

It borders on impossible to find a decent F350 with low miles. Ugh.

A Tow Vehicle religious question

I have come to the conclusion that it is time to trade my beloved 2012 F350 6.7L SRW std bed truck. I am looking for a used, 2021-2023 diesel model with mileage below 30K and SRW, std bed. So my “religious” question for everyone who tows a 5th wheel is, which brand of diesel truck should I trade up ...

Re: 2019 Chevy 3500 diesel. High Country

Marv, I haven’t heard of this problem. I did a quick Google and found this article on fuel pump filter failures in 2016 due to lack of lubricity. Maybe it can point your soon to a soln. Regardless…not a cheap fix. A company called Injectors Direct advertises a soln. There also is a recall for a smal...

Re: Camping Memberships and Discounts

Don, I am starting to believe the Golden Age of camping is coming to a close. We will keep doing it for a few more years but $90-$100-$110/night is absurd when most don't even have decent internet or cable. There will probably be a consolidation of the campground industry (and RV industry) as the nu...

Re: Camping Memberships and Discounts

Like Big Bird we use: Good Sam KOA AAA (RV plus) Unfortunately we tend to use KOA going across country for overnight stays but this next year I am going to drop KOA due to costs and the price of most KOA campgrounds has skyrocketed even with their discount. This camping business is becoming a very e...

Re: Bad DEF = $$$

Thanks for the code. The DEF I added was not BLUE and I can't locate dates on the container. The Ford repairman recommended not using when more than 6 months old and once the container is opened, pitch any that is left because it is exposed to air possibly expediting the crystalization.
