I was just thinking about how, now that the leaves are dropping and filling the bed, they really swirl around when the trailer is on, eddies use energy and I'm wondering if the airflow would be smoother without the tailgate while I'm towing. As for the wing, I was wondering if it might help keep som...

Welcome! On my Bird the central vac is fairly easy to get access to, unless something blocks the sliding door. Watch it when stepping down the steps at the floor pickup, I didn't and I had to repair the thing. Only took a sheet metal screw to fix it, but it was a clutz thing to do. I went to the Mic...

Tailgates, Wings and MPG
I'm considering taking off the tailgate, and perhaps getting a air deflector/wing.
Has anyone noticed any difference im MPG with either when towing?

Our F250 FX4 was ordered with all the tow/camper/snowplow options. With full gas and the trailer loaded and on the hitch it's sitting level. The 6.8 V10 with the auto transmission provides plenty of power. Out here just to go anywhere we're going over a mountain pass so I wanted plenty of power, and...

Congratulations on your new rig! After hunting all over my rig, I finally found the vacuum bags inside the canister. And, watch out for the floor sweep lever. My heel came down on ours, and... It was an easy fix, I used a sheet metal screw that was small enough to fit thru the spacer. And I removed ...

Had the bottom rear corner of the fairing over the tires on the slide out rub a bit. There's some flex there. Trimmed it back where it was rubbing, no other problem with the LT235R/16/85 Michilian XPS tires, even when I pull onto the shoulder to let traffic pass while climbing a steep grade or drivi...

Checked the sticker on my trailer and it says ST235/80R/16, mfg in January of 2007. I've also taken a look at the NTSB listings, they have P for Passenger and LT for Light Truck, NO mention of ST. (Google search using ST, ST Tire, ST Tire Rating). Remember, you can always go to a better grade of tir...

If Forest River isn't getting the sticker info right, or not following their own information, it's time for the NTSB to get involved and get the situation clarified. Either way, I feel safer with the LT tires on the Cardinal, which are built to passenger carrying standards vs ST which I think were i...

I put the Michilen XPS tires on my trailer. As others have mentioned, LOTS more tread then the Load Stars (I kept one Load Star as the spare, so it is easy to compare). All the extra rubber means there is reduced clearance in the wheel wells. On the left rear (on the slide out) the plastic trim rubb...

I emailed Forest River when I was having some warrenty repairs done at the dealer, and recieved a phone call from a Forest River rep the next morning. During the consveration I did say I was replacing the Karrier tires, why I was replacing them, and that I am a member of the Cardinal RV Club, where ...

I'm running my XPS ribs at 80# which is the Max Load pressure listed on the tires, and is the recommended pressure for a trailer tire. If the tire you took off is starting to lose the tread, I'd get new tires all around before another long trip. I can't remember where I saw the pictures, here or on ...
