Re: 2022 Ford Powerstroke NOX Sensor issues
My test involved no tail pipe emissions sniffer. Everything is done linking their computer to the OBDII and reading the truck’s computer(s). All other cars seem to perform the same way.

2022 Ford Powerstroke NOX Sensor issues
On the heals of recent Dodge RAM/Cummins EPA emissions lawsuits; I just had the Bi-annual smog/emissions test performed, for $55, on my 2018 F-350 Powerstroke, which I easily PASSED. Welcome to California for you who are confused so far. The technician, who I have used for several years, urged me to...

Re: Cummins Fined $1.68B for falsifying emissions
Some articles say they (RAM) have three years to correct affected vehicles. Most indicate it is a software change, which may “de-tune” the trucks. Other articles say it may involve damaged parts that need replacing. Some hint at a buy back, others claim it is software. It could involve 600,000 truck...

Re: 60 Gallon External Fuel Tank
CARB (California Air Resources Board) is a real PITA (Pain in The A**). With smog checks every two years they look at aftermarket equipment with crossed eyes. I’ve not known them to get particularly crazy about aux fuel tanks but that is part of the joys of CA life. Many fuel tank manufacturers excl...

Re: A Tow Vehicle religious question
Perhaps Olbird has a spare F450. He never said what he decided to do with the second one he ordered. George…?

Re: A Tow Vehicle religious question
Keith, you have stirred a hornet’s nest and I also am interested to see if a consensus grows from your questions. My observations in traveling all around the country is there are many more Ford diesels on the road these days than Dodge or GM. As the owner of my second Ford diesel, I am partial to th...

Re: Southern Oregon RV Park
Good to know. We have discovered that every County Fairgrounds in Oregon have nice full hook-up RV sites, nice spaces and reasonably priced. They are usually open year round, except the week they host a county fair. Then it is for the vendors and carnies only.

Re: 2019 Chevy 3500 diesel. High Country
Rick is right. Diesels have a 100,000 mile, (some may be 80,000 mile) Federal emissions systems warranty. My ‘08 Ford had 100K miles. My ‘18 they claim has 80K miles of drivetrain, emissions related stuff. Fuel systems are certainly “emissions” components. Have your son lean on them over that. Worth...

Re: Camping Memberships and Discounts
*Good Sam- I have had a Lifetime Good Sam Membership for 40 years. It has more than paid for itself, as I bought it when it was cheap. I just need to remember to use it at campgrounds. I am running into more private camps/parks that no longer offer the GS discount, or any group discount. More freque...

Re: Bad DEF = $$$
I do not allow my DEF reservoir to get below 1/4 full. My truck has a dash gauge similar to the fuel gauge. I got low once and it triggered a dash indicator and set a code. The emitter/injector into the diesel exhaust filter in the exhaust system was at risk of clogging with crystalized fluid from l...

Here is the decoder key for the Product Code stamped on the boxes of packaged PEAK Blue DEF. The research shows it lasts about one year on the shelf.

Re: Dodge Recall
That is what I thought. The Aisin is a Toyota cooperation with Dodge, and is bulletproof. If it should fail, shops remove it, replace it and send the failed one back in a crate for examination. The shop cannot open the trans. On the other hand, the Dodge transmission does not perform as well or have...

Is the 68RFE the Aisin trans in cooperation with Toyota, or Chrysler’s excuse for a truck trans?

Re: DEF Supply Shortage
I stopped at Walmart in Fredericksburg, TX, specifically for Blue DEF. They had none. They had 10 containers of the Platinum variety for $23 and change. Normal stuff was $13 and change. (I bought one platinum container). The clerk said he read that producers were ordered to hold back 50% of normal p...
