Re: 2011 GMC 3500 Dully Denali

Rob, If I were you I'd crawl under the truck and take a good look.
I had 11 zerks on my '02 and if there are 9 on the 2011 I'd be willing to put a lot of money (name your amount) that your service guy is wrong.
Take a good look in the areas I listed in my post above.

Re: 2011 GMC 3500 Dully Denali

George, Congrats on your new truck. I know how you like to check things out and I was wondering if you had a chance to count the number of zerk fittings? There has been some discussion on dieselplace.com regarding this topic. Some say there are 11 fittings, same as on previous models, while some say...

Re: 5th wheel wiring in new Chevy trucks

Mike, I think the wire is still rolled up behind the driver's side of the cab, but the RV dealer installed the plug for the trailer in the bed like we all have. I'm thinking they didn't know about the wire behing the cab and just tied it into the plug wire on the bumper. Need to remember to make a c...

Re: Removing Hitch From Truck Bed

My father-in-law does the same thing as Matt. Just leave it on the 5th wheel and pull the pins. He never leaves it in the truck and has no problem re-attaching.

Re: First pull with 2011 Sierra

Off to Robert La. Going to be a wet drive. That entire parish (Tangipahoa) is currently under a tornado watch until 8pm. BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!! We are in Bayou Segnette SP right outside of New Orleans. We come in every year for Mardi Gras from Tangipahio and experienced our first twister in our camper ...

Well it Happened!!!!

Turned onto an unlevel campground road today and the underside edge of the 5th wheel hit the bed rail on the driver's side. It dented the top of the rail by the tailgate and dented the moulding on the camper. Neither dent is real bad but hated to see it happen on our first trip out with the new truc...

I figure it will be close on dips. You have a lot more clearance with the back of your pinbox cut than I do.

Re: Stressing over towing with my new 2011 3500HD

Mike, It looks like raising the hitch gives me about 5 1/2" clearance from the top of my bed rails. I think that will be good enough. The back of the hitch looks like it will not have to be cut. Of course all of this was checked out on a level surface. We plan on leaving on the 8th for a short ...

Mike enjoyed the conversation as well. Thanks for the great pics. Will let you know if raising the hitch does the trick.

No it doesn't but they have to connect it and probably pull it to try out. I can't get an appointment before then anyway.

Re: Stressing over towing with my new 2011 3500HD

Thanks guys for the info. I do feel better about it now. I'll keep you posted when I get the hitch mounted and hook up the 5th wheel. I need to get the 500 miles of break-in before I mount the hitch, hopefully by the end of next week.

Stressing over towing with my new 2011 3500HD

Why you say? This new truck is so tall I am afraid I am not going to be able to tow level. It is a good 3-4 inches taller (about 57" high at tailgate) than my previous truck. I have a 2008 31rkle, which sits pretty low. When I backed up to the camper, the truck rails were even with the bootom o...
