Re: F-350 Coolant Additive Question
Thanks Bill, that is pretty much the position I am taking. They did rebalance my coolant a little but I think it is a computer generated message based upon miles not coolant chemistry.

Re: Who has gone from a long boxTV to a short box?
I have a Superglide ISR 16K hitch after running with a Reese manual slider for 8 years. The difference in ease of use and reduced chucking is amazing. Plus I never have to worry about the unintentional denting of my cab when turning. The only downside, that I am not sure any other sliders have is th...

F-350 Coolant Additive Question
About 3 weeks ago I got a warning message on my dash saying Check Coolant Additive. Per the manual, the radiator coolant additive (note this is NOT the coolant but an additive) is to be checked every 15K miles on my 2012 F350 but evidently it was not done by the dealer and I had 28K miles on the tru...

Re: New Edge Evolution CTS
Regarding the Snow Performance, I have had both the Dodge and Ford truck into the shop frequently since 2010 for oil changes, reflashes of the ECM and major mechanical work, most recently 2 weeks ago for the recall on the EGT where they did a reflash and complete inspection of the exhaust system...w...

Re: New Edge Evolution CTS
My understanding of the warranty is that as long as I leave the CTS in stock mode, all it is doing is monitoring the stock setup with more guages. For example, I now monitor the for EGT sensors as the darn truck left me stranded a year ago when one sensor failed. There is no reprogramming in Stock M...

Re: New Edge Evolution CTS
Thought I would get everyone up to speed on the Edge Evolution CTS install. Part of the install deal is that I let them put my truck with the Evolution CTS AND the Snow Water Meth system on a dynometer to test HP and DPF/regen with and without the two systems. The DPF/Regen test was done at the requ...

Re: New Edge Evolution CTS
Not sure if I can track all four EGTs but there are what looks like about 30 PIDs to track.

New Edge Evolution CTS
My neighbor just gave me a new Edge Evolution CTS (NO KIDDING) Because Ford F350 2012 already has the EGT sensor, I don't need to measure the EGTs. I was curious what those of you with a CTS use it for. It has too many settings for me to figure out!

Re: Spring Maintenance
Don, the horror stories about Fram oil filters are legend. I haven't heard anything bad about Wix. In fact, one of the rumors out there is that the Napa Gold is a upper end Wix (no idea if this is true). One of the things I was taught about filters is to always look for an oil filter that uses metal...

Don, are the rumors true that you will be throwing yourself (and your fellow campers) a big 65th Birthday party celebration at the National Rally in July? This rumor, after all, is the primary reason Sher and I signed up for the rally...we heard you throw great parties!

Re: Spring Maintenance
Dale, I use the Rotella T6 in my 2012 F350 and in my 2009 Goldwing. For synthetic it is a very reasonable price and it seems to work very well. I especially like the 5-40 weight. That weight is truly an all-season weight. P.S. I also try to use a better oil filter ...usually Napa Gold on sale...and ...

Re: Purchased a new Ram
DEF does have the value of making engines run cooler and probably contributes to the better mileage and lower emissions the new trucks get. My problem with DEF is two foldL 1. Cost...it seems difficult to find it at truck stops with a nozzle that will fit the 2012 Ford, hence I end up pooring it in ...

Re: Purchased a new Ram
Do the new 2014 Dodge diesels use DEF? That is the only part of the 2012 Ford I don't like!
