Brake Controller

Today we were headed towards Paso Robles, CA. We made it over the mountains by Bakersfield, thank goodness than the brake controller went out on our pick-up. We were able to get into a campground and found a GMC dealer. They will check it out tomorrow and hopefully will get it fixed. It’s a bit of a...

Re: Over Heating Brakes

Mike, the shake lasted about 10 minutes after we came off the grade. We got onto the interstate and by the time we pulled off the interstate to the campground the shake was gone completely. We’ve gone about 900 miles since than and have not had a problem, we've not had the shake before or after, and...

Re: Over Heating Brakes

We have about 70,000 miles on our Chevy and we've not replaced them, but I did have our dealer check them out before our trip and said they were OK. They are working fine now, we only had the problem coming down this one grade coming into Las Cruces, NM on highway 70.

Over Heating Brakes

Usually coming down a grade I let the Allison transmission hold my speed. The other day coming down a long grade the engine was just a howling so I kick the Allison out. I was using the brakes to keep my speed. The problem I had was applying the brakes on the truck after the front end would just sha...

GM Pickups

Look for flashier GM pickups in mid-2013. New 2014 versions of Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra will have more aerodynamic styling, quieter interiors, updated steering, suspensions and brakes. GM claims better fuel economy in some models too. :thumbrt:

Re: Your Favorite RV Park for 2012

For us we like nature so my vote would go for Buckskin Mountain State Park between Lake Havasu and Parker Arizona. I'm with you Jim. I have to say our favorite discovery for 2012 was Riverside State Park near Spokane WA. http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i243/Rob17_photo/P1010033800x405.jpg Beautif...

Your Favorite RV Park for 2012

Of all the RV parks you’ve stayed at this year, which one is your favorite? For us we like nature so my vote would go for Buckskin Mountain State Park between Lake Havasu and Parker Arizona. It’s right on the Colorado River with great hiking trails and mountains that line the river on both the Arizo...

Re: Winterizing your home

It’s why it’s a good idea to shut the water off in the house.

We also put "ClingWrap" over the toilet to keep the water from evaporating. Word to the wise---"when you get home remember to remove it". I SPEAK FROM EXPERIENCE.

Re: Tire, Bridgestone Duravis R250

I replaced them at about 45,000 miles, they still looked good but we were heading out on a cross-country trip and I wanted good tires. I have about 35,000 on the second set. Noise was not an issue. The only thing they do is when I turn hard on say my cement apron going into my garage they leave mark...

Re: Winterizing your home

A lot of good suggestions, the only thing I would add is to go to your local police station let them know you will be gone. Ours has a form we fill out with information about how to reach us if necessary.
