Re: Purchased a new Ram
Well now Im not sure when I will be picking it up. The truck was supposed to be a dealer trade from Salem Or but they decided that someone was still trying to make a deal on it and would not let it go. Actually Im the someone. I looked at this truck on Sunday. I told them I would let them know what ...

Re: Purchased a new Ram
Don, you are right. I couldnt believe the sound difference on the test drive. Told Sandy that it was quieter than her car. Hey Duane I see from your sig that you are in Wisconsin. I was born in Beloit. Moved out to Oregon in 1968.

Purchased a new Ram
We finally decided it was time to take the plunge on a new tow rig. We will be going down Thursday to sign the papers on a new Ram 3500. :d It was a tough decision on whether or not to spend the money but we felt that our 01 Dodge had served us well after 14 years and over 100k miles. I made the dec...

Re: towing with a 2500HD
jtaylor I feel you pain. Sandy says no as well. I tried using the heated/cooled seats, its quieter than our present truck, "look an automatic so that you can drive" etc. I guess after 41 years of marriage Ive gotten rusty with my salesmanship skills.

Re: Went "All In" On New Tow Vehicle
I have a Reese 20k hitch on my 2001 Dodge. This uses the rails in the bed which are bolted to the frame. Does the Reese adaptor allow for the use of this hitch? As I posted before that is a fine looking truck. I would have to go for the bucket seats with the full floor console. After seeing one I ca...

Re: Went "All In" On New Tow Vehicle
Great looking truck! Ive been looking at getting a new Ram truck myself just cant get the wife convinced yet. :)) Don't worry about the higher gearing. The Aisin tranny gearing makes up for it. Ram was looking at better fuel mileage as well. Go to the TDR website ( turbo diesel register ) This a web...

Re: towing with a 2500HD
My 3025 has a pin weight of 2000lbs according to the spec sheet. After loading essentials it went way up. My pickup weighs 7000lbs unhooked, 10600lbs hooked to the 5er. This is only a 34ft fifth wheel with a 14,000lb rating. Our old 5er had a 2000lb pin weight as well and it was a 31ft Presidential....

Re: Welcome
Thank you Mike. Im glad to be here. I enjoy reading the posts and have picked up a lot of useful information. You are right in saying that Cardinal and Blue Ridge are almost identical. Structurally they are identical. There are some differences but quality is built into both. You will be able to see...

Re: Dodge Ram
You are right Mike. My 5.9 Cummins has no problem pulling the 13000 lb Blue Ridge ( not even loaded fully for a long trip), its the suspension and drivetrain which are more important. I have the power for what Im towing right now. Its the brakes, driveline, springs, axles and even frame which may no...

Re: Dodge Ram
Snoking, Im like you. Will turn 100k miles today on my 2001. Drive train is holding up but everything else is showing age. Replaced the upper dash, lift pump ,injector pump, brakes. The chrome grille is blistering and the clearcoat is peeling. With our new 5er the truck is over its GVW. Truck pulls ...

Re: Dodge Ram
I remember that Mike. This was after you mentioned that you weren't in any hurry and we would just take our time to get to our next camp site I think this was the same trip that I kept breaking valve stems on the truck and trailer. Oh the joys of RVing

Re: Dodge Ram
Own a 2001 Dodge Ram Cummins HO 6spd. We were going up Santiam Pass with our 5er one time and I told the wife this thing could use more power. Looked down at the speedo and was doing 45mph. Passed a speed limit sign and it said 45mph. Didn't say anything more about power after that.
