Try to test pull another 5th wheel from your dealer, this would tell you if the problem is the truck or trailer.

I would say you have a very good case for demanding warranty repairs, they had all the tools to inspect and review past history before selling.

Did you buy it from a GM dealer, or private owner ? Very nice looking truck, you made a good decision to go with a DRW, the 3850RL is heavy and wants to push and pull the TV when loaded for a long trip on bad highways most all states have.
Air Ride hitch or pin box works well on these heavy units.

The 3450 is a very large heavy trailer and the hitch weight will end up higher then listed.
I would go with a diesel for sure, your fuel use will save you money while the power to pull.

Don't put the cost of the RV & Truck into the sheet or cost of repairs and maintenance.
