Re: New members, new to RVing, new to land living
Welcome to the RV lifestyle Jim & Norma! Hope it fits you well & you are able to get far enough south soon for a while to adapt to the temp gradually. Remember to take wide turns, watch for low clearances, and take the long way!

Re: Truck Brakes
Our 2008 doesn't have the engine brake feature. I've looked at having an after market system put on but have been told that it might create problems, especially with an automatic transmission. Tow/Haul mode using Allison is a great feature for slowing us down and I'm sure if I had a newer truck lik...

Variable vane turbo makes a big difference, it helps you brake.Rob & Cathy wrote:All those highway miles make a difference Jim.

Re: Is He, or Isn't He getting a 2012
Ok guys make me the butt of the jokes on this one, my high MPG 9.5 EMPTY my low MPG 5.95 (25,500 lb load against 35 mph headwind at 65 mph while climbing 4,500 ft). But my average mpg with this truck (under 300 miles empty the rest towing 4,430 miles total miles) is 7.75. I figure not bad for the lo...

Re: Never Moving Again
When I get to the point I can't move it anymore I will live in it stationary. Being a full timer they will have to drag me out of it before I go back to sticks/bricks or assisted living. This thing was made to roll and will continue to do so as long as I can accomplish it!

Re: CCUSA and Passport America
We use it, it has limitations but works well. Many of the campgrounds limit number of days, specific days of the week, and specific times of year. All those limitations are posted in the book. On our first time out with PPA it paid for itself 3 times in a 4 week 3000 mile trip. I reckon you'll like ...

Re: Hitch Locks
A bit different situation here, but 8 X grade 8 X 5/16 bolts works for me, guess I should throw in one 3/8 bolt just to make sure they have the whole tool kit!Traveler II wrote:Does anyone lock their hitch to the truck bed? If you do, what do you use?

Re: Is He, or Isn't He getting a 2012
Glad to hear it is working good for you Jeff! Sounds like a good combo! I've become pretty happy with mine too, figured out I was running too slow in 10th to get the sweet spot, now running 68 to 69 mph and mileage up to almost 8. Pretty good for a big boy! When I have to run slower I'll try 9th ge...

Re: Exhaust brake
I had a Banks unit installed at Camping World. It ties in with the transmission computer control and work great. The Pac unit was used as a factory option on the 05 & 06 Dodges. I am considering having an after market transmission temp gauge and an exhaust gas temp gauge installed on my truck s...

Get it to that dealer while warranty in place. I have had cummins (2 models), duramax, and Detroit Diesels and never seen any oil on turbo system, could be impending failure?

Re: Fuel Stops
My normal routine is fuel and make a grocery and beer run after I reach a campground and drop the trailer. :D Jeff Jeff, You gotta watch out where you do that when you start reaching out on your trips. You could end up drinking 3.2 beer in Oklahoma for example, or worse end up in a dry county in TX...

Re: Dully? 4x4 or 2x4?
Bruce, it has a 4 speed auto trans with a button on the shift lever to remove overdrive. I'll be purchassing the hitch when we'll go pick up the Fifth wheel and they will install it and ajust it to my truck. It shoul'nt be too long because there was a hitch in it with the former owner. All the hole...
