Re: 6.0 Diesel Class Action Suit
Last time I saw one of those Class Action settlement's if was for about $20 for everyone except the lawyers. Better then nothing, as long as I wasn't out any money or time for the lawsuit. Personally I think they're B.S. Whoever gets hit with a Class Action lawsuit covers the loss by raising prices ...

Re: Dually MPG
Last trip to the Bay Area, I saw 12.5 MPG average for the trip. That included close to 200 miles without the 'Bird on the Bay Area freeways at 70 to 75, and two trips over Tehachapi Pass maintaining 60. Mileage is getting better, the engine must be getting broken in. Or the summer diesel blend has m...

Re: Dually MPG
For a SRW or non "Tow Boss" dually, it sounds reasonable. The '09 F350 "Tow Boss" (F450 axles) FX4 dually I had got slightly less MPG empty then that with 4:15 gears. And around 8 to 9.5 MPG towing. Make sure all the service bulletins are completed, especially the cooling system ...

Re: Dually MPG
Scale weight with full tanks and what's in the tool box Mike. Empty weight is more then the max gross weight of the work F250 of 9700 lbs. Good solid base for towing.Mike Clay wrote:10k what the heck do you have in that thing.

Gotta love these 6.7 engines. Mileage like the "good 'ol days".
And lot's more power to boot!

Dually MPG
Who thinks a 10,000 lb. F350 dually diesel can't get good MPG?
On the 14 freeway headed home from Palmdale today.
Parked in the driveway.

Re: Trail air vs 5th airborne
When I had the F250 I thought about airbags or Timberlins. Then I went, Dummy! If you're truck can't handle it stock, long haul, you'll regret it. 'Sides it had a V10, and I'm in the west with 8000' passes, and long hauls at 3000' +, in headwinds. Got a turbo diesel dually.
Problem's solved.

Re: Trail air vs 5th airborne
I'd go with the 5th Airborne after looking at both. All the rubber is protected from UV. Reports I've read are pretty much the same for each, so I'd guess performance is equal.

Re: 4 wheel drive-versus rear wheel drive
Did the 2 wheel drive with the 'Bird on wet grass. Didn't work well. Shifted into 4Hi and walked out. Or getting started when you stop on a steep slope on gravel. 2 wheel, toss gravel into the trailer, 4Hi or 4Lo you walk out. I haven't had a 2X4 in over 30 years. Might not use is as often now, but ...

I got the Powertrain/Engine extended warranty as part of the package when I bought the truck.

Re: Diesel Forums
I have to agree about the 10% providing 90% of the brand sites posts, that's why I rarely visit them any more. "OMG this (insert truck/engine/tranny) is a ...!" In some ways, the Internet is a curse. Almost 15K on my truck, 180K on the '08 work truck, fuel, DEF, oil and filter change is al...

Re: Over Heating Brakes
We have about 70,000 miles on our Chevy and we've not replaced them, but I did have our dealer check them out before our trip and said they were OK. They are working fine now, we only had the problem coming down this one grade coming into Las Cruces, NM on highway 70. Might go for a second opinion ...

Re: Ford 2012 F350 CC SWB SRW 6.7 PS Towing vs. DRW
Some older, smaller models have a heavy pin weight, and the fresh water tank at the very rear, like the 'Bird. 2500# pin weight with full fresh water. After a year of towing the 'Bird with a '05 F250 V10 with all the heavy suspension options I could order, and finding myself looking at air bags, add...

Re: Brake Controllers for Tow Vehicles
'05 was the first year for the Super Duty trucks to have Tow Command. Used a Prodigy for years, different trucks, different trailers, however I always wished for better. Got it now. If this brake system ties in with the truck systems, including ABS, good.
