Re: Double Towing
I tow doubles. I tow Watercraft on a 15 1/2' trailer behind my 5er. My total length is 67'. The second trailer weighs nearly 2000 lbs. fully loaded. It tows very well, I ordered the boat trailer hitch from the factory, and had them install the 4 wire plug at the same time. The wiring runs open above...

Re: Diesel Engine in our '06 Ford-leak bearing bed plate
My "08 F-350 with the 6.4 diesel went through the same Bed Plate surgery at 30,000 miles. I noticed the leak at about 13,000 miles and monitored it. It appeared just like a rear main seal, but these engines do not have the traditional rear main seal. The Bed Plate wraps up the rear of the two p...

Re: Air Lift Air Springs
I had Air Lift bags on my '99 Ford F-250. First trip out with the 5th Wheel was rough. I has 25# air in them. Turned out they were bottoming out because i had too little air in them. I pumped them up to 35# which worked much nicer for us. I ran them at 15# when empty and not towing. It did not raise...

Re: New F350
You'll like the tailgate. I didn't think I needed to spring for it, but it was already on the truck I found. I call it my "old man's tailgate". Since you have a 4X4 you'll especially like it. I have carefully drug all kinds of equipment over the handle and plastic cover, It is tougher than...

Re: Exhaust Temperatures
Your exhaust temp seems to be in the factory recommended ranges. I went to 4 Ford dealers and asked what is max temp. None knew or would commit. I had to seek answers from after market providers. I have similar temps. Temp readings vary, depending on where the temp probe is installed. If it is post ...

Re: Bad Shimmy
This sounds like a front wheel alignment issue. The truck's alignment changes when you hook up the trailer. Camber and Caster adjustments change, which lead to shimmy if the adjustments are way off. Take it to a good frame/alignment shop specializing in trucks. They will check it with trailer and wi...

Re: what are you towing with
I tow my '07 30RKLE with a '08 F-350, 6.4 diesel. I had a '99 F-250 V-10 with 3.73diff. and 4 spd overdrive auto trans. I felt I was over loaded and under powered, and got 7-9 mpg. The '08 5 spd trans is markedly better with the closer ratio gearing. My '08 has 3.73 diff. and I average 10 mpg overal...

Re: Why hasn't the cost of motor oil fallen?
I get Delo 400 at Walmart for $11.97 per gallon. Did you mean per quart or gallon in SD? $12 per gallon is steep for sure.

Re: 2008 Ford F 250 power stroke questions
I have a 2008 F-350, 6.4 turbo diesel, 2WD with the 5 spd Automatic Trans., single rear wheel axle, with 3.73 dif. It is rated to GCVWR at 23,000. I love the power, and the auto trans is everything the Allison claims to be. In tow Haul mode it performs well, holds back well on steep downhill grades....

Re: Double towing with a fiver!
I have a factory installed receiver on my 2007 5th wheel. I paid $550 when I ordered the trailer. Seemed a bit expensive when I did it, but I figured it was worth every penny to have a factory hitch made by Lippert when they made the frame. I also had them provide the 4 wire pig tail for the second ...
