31RK

Markj, I just thought of one more thing. Make sure they show you the handles to dump your holding tanks. My trailer has two handles in the under belly storage area and one in the wheel well in front of the tire. The reason I suggest this is I knew I had three holding tanks but because I could only f...

New 31rk

Mark, Congrats on the new fiver!!!!!!!!!! Ditto on the tires! Two main things to check out are the air conditioner(s) and the furnace. Turn on the furnace and heat up the trailer and then turn on the AC and cool it off. They should have the hot water heater on and check to make sure you have hot wat...

Short bed

The main thing you will have to be carefull of is real sharp turns!! The extended pinbox will make that a little less critical.

RT and Steve, The rally will be Friday April 27 thru Sunday April 29. We have not finalized the agenda at this time. The plan is for people to arrive starting Friday afternoon and evening. Rubber roof

Linda, The rubber roof on my fifth wheel has bubbles and wrinkles in it as well. I have been on top of two trailers other than my Cardinal and they both had the bubbles and wrinkles as well. I talked to the people at Camping World about it and they told me that it was normal. The service guy told me...

low sulfer diesel

Thanks for discussing what you guys were using in your fuel. My Dodge CTD was considerably louder than before the ULS Diesel fuel. I picked up the Power Service and started using it on the 20th of January and noticed the purr had returned after the first tank of fuel. I just sold my Alpenlite to my ...

Build Duration

Hi Rosey

I hope you get your new Bird soon. It seems like it takes forever when you are waiting.

The build time of three or four days seems fast, you hope they are striving for quality not quantity when they are building your trailer!!

Steve, Congradulations on the new trailer. :D It sounds like you are already enjoying the trailer and it will only get better the more you get to go out. You might think about joining us for the Cardinal Rally on April 27,28,29 2007 at Casa De Fruita, near Hollister on Highway 152. Check it out in S...

Trucks

I have been looking at new trucks as well. I have the 2000 Dodge 2500 with the 47 tranny and have 105,000 miles. I have towed a 25 foot Alpenlite about 15,000 miles and the 29WB LX Cardinal about 8,000 miles. I always keep a close watch on the tranny because of it's reptation I read that the 07 Dodg...

Emergency lanyard

I have the Husky hitch which when hitched wraps around the king pin and the hasp and pin hold it in place. I used to put the lanyard under the hasp and then installed the pin. When I got to thinking about it I figured if it ever came unhitched the emergency braking system would be of no use. I have ...

Tires

The Trailer King tires are manufactured by Kenda and are the replacement for the Klevar tires which were the bad series of tires. I have a freind who told me that Cooper Tire is now handling the Kenda brand tires. I replaced my Klevar with Goodyear!

Watch those doors

I had a similar situation happen except the bottom doors came open and caught on the wooden trim on the slide and pulled the trim loose and had to be hammered back on! No damage to the doors. We now use a very small bungi cord to hold the doors closed when we travel. We have also had a magazine get ...

Toilet paper holder

Thanks to all for their replies. We bought a stand that would hold three rolls of TP, but put a plastic tube on the bottom of the stand so it only held two rolls. Didn't want that the third roll to drag on the floor. Only wanted it touching the right bottoms! It worked great on our 18 day trip to Ne...

Toilet Paper Holder

We have been trying to find a tp holder since we bought our Cardinal, Jan 2005, without any success.
We have looked at the 05,06 and 07 Cardinals and Forest River still has not figured out a way to put on a toilet paper holder.

What have you ingenious  Cardinal owners come up with???

Kenda Tires

We recently had an experience with Kenda tires on California's rough roads! - Highway 80 over Donner Pass. We were flagged over by a good Samaratin who thought our brakes were on fire. We pulled over and found that one of the tires was deflating and when it hit the road it blew up dirt which made it...
