Re: Fuel Stops
Wow Don, I think I'm taking Martha's side on this one. Seems extreme, but if it works for you more power to it. I look before each trip at the fuel prices in all the states I will (or might) go through (sometimes we change routes mid-trip just for fun). I note those states with lower fuel prices and...

Re: Fuel Stops
There are publications such as The Next Exit and Exit Now that will show RV friendly stations and there are some web based sites. Rob Those books are good if you are driving on a freeway but 2/3 of the roads in the U.S. are not freeways and are not listed in those books. And if you are in Californi...

Re: Fuel Stops
Well my truck is a bit bigger than most so I do use truck stops (also did with a pick-up) as they are set up for tall vehicles with trailers. In the pick-up days I also often unhooked in the afternoon and took the naked truck for fuel anywhere. Another tip is to look for Flying J truck stops as most...

Re: Communications on the road
We have AT&T, once again had them for years so when we went full-time just kept them. We've had very good luck with coverage with a few exceptions like where we are now, but nobody has coverage out here (10 miles up the road no problem as we are between 2 mountain ranges). That being said Sharon...

Re: New members, new to RVing, new to land living
Thank You Bruce and Sharon for sending me the link to the dog friendly campground. Since we are from the coast of NC, we are familiar with the western part of the state. Sounds like a fun place for both human and canine guests. Told Jim I want to go and stay a week. Can do was his reply :thumbrt: T...

Re: New members, new to RVing, new to land living
One statement and two questions from the Admiral. Her majesty is very appropriate :thumbrt: I have one mini poodle and will acquire a toy poodle when I get to NC. Can anyone tell me how strict these RV parks are. Rico, my mini, is always under voice command. Will I still have to keep him on a leash...

A step up from a 450 or 550 with a million mile powertrain and easy to drive with ultra-shift automated transmission. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h232/campswithcritters/Finished%20Gentle%20Giant/DSC00482.jpg A caricature on the sides now done by an artist friend. http://i65.photobucket.com/alb...

Re: New members, new to RVing, new to land living
I have talked to many 450 & 550 owners (drawn by my heavy hauler) about ride & mileage, but have never owned one. I've ridden in a few also, they definitely ride harsher than a 350 when empty (never been in one with trailer on) that is due to stronger springing for increased capacity. They a...

Re: To Superglide or not?
One way to avoid the non-towability issue on the trailer is to screw the plate on the 5er rather than welding it to the pinbox. It is then a pain to remove, but doable in an emergency to allow any truck with a hitch to tow it. I used one many years ago and was very happy with it, it was if anything ...
