We plan to return to Michigan going thru Mississippi, via I 55, does anyone know of a decent park near the highway for an overnight?

These are the only two campgrounds I could recommend along I-55 in Mississippi one in the south central part of the state and one in the very north part of the state
Jackson MS and is about 3 miles off of I 55. It is a state park. They do not have sewer hookup but do have a dump station also you will not get tv reception as you are in the trees but it is very pretty there. We stayed two nights.
LeFleurs Bluff State Park
Jackson, Mississippi
Phone: (601) 987-3923
Southaven, MS. This one is just south of Memphis and where the Memphis Rally was held in 2012.
CAMPGROUND: EZ Daze RV Park
536 We Ross Parkway,
Southaven, MS 38671
Phone: 877.377.9577
I have experience with a third one in Vaiden but it was in pretty poor shape in 2009 so I would not recommend it.

Tom, LeFleurs Bluff in Jackson is a beautiful setting in Jackson. We were there last October on our Natchez Trace journey. I do not recall any pull through spaces so you will have to unhook your second trailer.

Dana is correct the sites are all back in and 23 are 40 feet in length and the other 5 are shorter. but they are wide if I remember correctly.

The only one we have stayed at is the ED Daze just outside Memphis. They have a few pull thru they put the over niters on. It can be a bit noisy as you are in the flight path to the Memphis airport. At certain times the FedEx planes come over every minute or so. We usually stay there because it is a nice days drive from the coast plus we have friends that live nearby.

Tom since you are taking I-55 and if you plan on getting to the Memphis area before stopping and don't want to deal with the noise in Southaven Mississippi there is also
Tom Sawyer Mississippi River RV Park in West Memphis Arkansas. It is a nice park.

Thanks Don, we stayed at Tom Sawyer last year on the way home, nice place. We want to spend at least one night somewhere in Ms. So I can officially add that state to my map.

Well if you have the time and are willing to get off of I-55 want to visit a interesting place in Mississippi I would suggest Vicksburg and Vicksburg National Military Park.

Campground recommendation is Ameristar Vicksburg RV Park.

Restaurant recommendation - Walnut Hill Restaurant. Plan on getting there during the time they are serving family style on the round tables.
