Hill City South Dakota Rafter J campground

After the Frog rally in Goshen I wanted to take Sandy to some areas that she had never seen. Rushmore, Crazyhorse ,ect. A friend recommended Rafter J. Did not sound like much but went on line and made reservations. Most the the campgrounds in Hill city are right next to the main road. Rafter sits well back 1/4mile off the road. It is beautiful. Has large grass meadows and campsites are very roomy ,well groomed and easy to park our 3850 Cardinal. The office is well equipped,, has strong Wi Fi in several areas in the campground. Very Clean showers restrooms and laundry. Has a basketball and volleyball court and offers all you can eat pancake breakfast. I have read several evaluations online. All were good except one. I dont think he stayed here. This is an excellent place for a base of operations to get to everything in the Rushmore area. Sturgis, Deadwood and Spearfish very close and Rafter is about a 15 min drive from Rushmore and Crazyhorse. Custer park Jewel cave and Wind Caves all close by.

We have stayed there. Liked it too. Might be a good National Rally spot.

Scary thoughts! Before I run wild I decided to have Carnac look into the past. In 2011 the National Rally was at Mt. Rushmore KOA in Hill City. I did not make that one. Still could be fun. We love that area. I'm Fixin'Ta head out for West Yosemite tomorrow for this year's National Rally.
