Does anyone know of a nice campground near the north rim of the Grand Canyon ? We are talking about spending Memorial Weekend near there.

We have stayed at Jacob Lake Campground. It is right outside the park entrance. It is adequate, clean but I would not call it 5 star. It is the closest and best in the area. Others are further away. Kanab is quite far in my estimation and does not offer much better. Trailer Village inside the park is a good option. We were just at South Rim at Trailer Village inside the park. The reservations are handled through Delaware North. Get reservations now for Memorial Day. North Rim is beautiful, and less crowded or commercialized. My dream is to get cabin #1 or 3 at the North Rim Lodge. Both cabins offer spectacular views with wonderful porches. The lodge dining room is great food with awesome views. Enjoy!

Dana gave you good information but during the busy part of the year you will need to get reservations very early for Grand Canyon even for private campgrounds outside the park at Tusayan. Also depending on the winter conditions you may have difficulty getting into the North Rim in May.
