Fort Fisher, Wilmington NC

For those who are retired military, I recommend Fort Fisher in Kuru Beach, Wilmington NC. this is an inexpensive campground $25/night that has large sites but not many....about 20 spots. There are also about 20 almost new 1, 3 and 4 bedroom "cabins" that go for about $110/night. It is very easy to access.
We camped at Fort Fisher from 18 Dec - 30 Dec 2018. The campground is a block off the beach and so there is a lot of dew but it was in general very warm with daytime temps between 60 and 75 and nighttime lows ranging from 40-55 degrees. There is plenty to do with an Aquarium and Civil War fort next door.
The internet was down due to recovery from Hurricane Florence but is expected to be up and running by the end of Jan 2019. Also no cable TV but there were over 20 over the air channels.
For a good time, close to the beach, this one is hard to beat...no matter what time of the year. Just make your reservations early as I understand the reservation list is long!
