We recently spent 3 days at Cape Disappointment State Park -- one of the only state parks that has spots for 40'. We loved it -- all 4 of us, and we rarely agree on anything. The space was a back-in, but at an angle off a circle drive, so it was very easy to back in. The pad was paved, and there was a gravel area with a picnic table, fire ring and full hook ups. Our space was #15 (great space), and we could see the ocean thru the trees, and could go to sleep at night to the sound of the surf. The currents are too strong for swimming, but the beach was still great and the kids spent hours building forts out of driftwood and swinging on driftwood swings that others had built. DH and I enjoyed the Lewis & Clark Interpretative Center - of course kids thought it was boring.

Only negatives, almost no Verizon cell service, only TV service was from our DirecTV. Roads into the park were a bit winding and narrow.

Welcome to the Great Pacific Northwest. Cape Disappointment was formerly Fort Canby State Park. It was the sister fort to Fort Stevens (state park) in Oregon. Together they protected the entrance to the Columbia River during WWII.

So how long are you going to be in the PNW and where are you heading to next?
