Excellent and lush camping

Hi, Folks!

I just returned from a road trip to Oregon. Although I was travelling in my Honda Accord, I took the time to stop off at a couple of camping areas and take some snap shots.

Now, I am not an RV park fan. But there are times when I need to use them. But whether traveling or not this one is worthy of the cost just for fun and relaxation. It's locate in the city of Lebanon, Oregon. It's only about 7 miles from my uncle's home. He told me about it so here it is. The second one is breath-taking! It's called Patrick's Point State Park. It's about 25 miles north of Eureka, California near Trinidad. It's right on the coast and is still in the California Redwood Forest. I did not get specific campsites. Only a few on one of the loops, and a shot of the road just to show off the lush surroundings. However, all photos of this album are all taken within the camping part of the State Park.

I hope you don't mind that I will include a link here to my photos I took along the U.S. Coastal Highway 101 in Oregon just to get someone interested in making the trip. I do this because I saw all along the route beautiful RV parks and campgrounds right along the highway. Hi Mike, thanks for the pictures. I travel all over the northwest on company business an I too will check out campgrounds on my trips. And of course all the does is make me want to retire early.

Like you I'm not a fan of RV parks. They typically have way to much concrete and asphalt and not nearly enough trees for my taste. Luckily here in the Washington/Oregon are we have excellent state campgrounds. I really liked the looks of the campground you showed in Lebanon. I think we'll have to make a stop there on our next trip south. Another exception is the RV Resort at Cannon Beach in Oregon. If you ever get up that way I highly recommend it.

When we leave the Cardinal NW rally in August we are going spent the next week traveling the Oregon coast and that will be our big trip for this year. We'll be gone for ten days an I wish it could be longer.

Thanks for sharing. I think the Pacific northwest is one of the prettiest parts of the U.S. -- can't wait to retire and take another trip out there!

I asked the host that very question. She said that not too many people know about it. Lebanon is a small town and is off the main inter-state about 10 miles.

It's only a couple of years old.

I was just thinking the same thing. Currently we will be staying one night at Champoeg State Part just north of Salem before heading to the rally however reservations can be changed.

When would you plan on being there and what route have planned through Oregon?

Ahh the beauty of full-timing, absolutly no plan yet whatsoever. We will have about 2 weeks before the rally and plan to do a bit of WA on the way there so am unsure of exact locations/dates for that trip yet. Still busy planning this one as we go. If you want to meet up there Rob, just set a date and we'll accomodate as we will be free-styling on that trip. In Dubois Wyoming right now looking out the back window at the Wind River about 35 ft away, this is the life!

And here I am looking out my home/office window wondering if it will stop raining long enough to mow the grass before I have to head over the mountains on Tuesday for work. There is definitely something wrong with this picture. Oh well, one of these days...
