Montana RV Parks

Post by teallen »

Judy and I are planning a two month vacation out west in 2009. Any favorable recommendations for RV parks around Kalispell/Glacier?

Awwww Man!!! Can ya hold off another year????? We have a rally planned for 2010 at Grizzly RV Park in Montana in Yellowstone National Park. Would love to see ya there!! Sure wish it was sooner, but for big trips like that, we like to give our members plenty of planning and saving money time!! :)

Thanks Luizianna, Unfortunately Judy and I already have a big trip planned for 2010 so we could not make the rally anyway. We tent camped in the western states many years ago with our children, I vowed then that I would return when I could spend some more time to explore. I am anxious to get out there and it fits into our 2009 calendar. Thanks Tom

We haven't yet been that way, so I can't help on recommendations, then I'm sure that a bunch of us would be interested to hear what you find out when you make your trip. :D

Hi Tom and Judy, in March of 2005 I was working in Montana and drove from Great Falls to Whitefish. Here's an example of the scenery on the trip and I promised myself that I would return when Cathy an I retire. This picture shows the SE corner of Glacier National Park.

We'll be retired by the time we attend the Yellowstone rally and plan to head north to Glacier National Park after the rally.

As far as campgrounds go I have no personal knowledge but I believe there's a KOA just a couple of miles from the west entrance to the park. Please keep us posted as I am very interested in what you find.

Well Glacier has a KOA right up the road from the entrance and it is really nice. Three Forks also has a nice KOA I have some pics on my other computer of the Glacier one, will try to find one and post it.

Rob, beautiful picture, that is how I remember it when I was there many years ago, cannot wait to go back. Mike, I will check out the KOA's on RV park reviews and see what I come up with. Thanks for the info. Tom

Not a good pic but you get the idea of how the KOA is set up in Glacier

We go to a great RV park in Montana every year...Campground St. Regis. Mitch and Lisa, the owners, are wonderful people and keep the place spotless. Never seen cleaner restrooms or laundry room. It is very near lots of fishing areas, the Clark Fork River, the Flathead River and the Thompson River. Also quite near the National Bison Range. It is 70 miles west of Missoula on I-90 and just 33 miles east of the Idaho border. We have been going there for five years and will be spending four months there this summer!!

A rally in 2010 sounds great at yellowstone, I spent some time there in 1991. Ill make it part of my west coast tour. When I was transfered back east from Phoenix we traveled north and camped at Jacobs Lake on the north rim of the Canyon. From there we went to yellow stone and stayed at a KOA on the west side of the park. Nice park. After a few days there we went to Mt Rushmore for a couple of days. The drive from Yellow stone to Mt Rushmore was increadable, I never saw so many Deer as we dropped down from the Rockys. From there we drove straight through to Bradford PA.

I have always wanted to take the coast highway from LA to Washington and we planned at some point taking the bird on a summer trip. We will be at MacDill AFB from Jan thru March, head home to get the gardens in then off to the West.

I don't have any experince with any campgrounds in the area. I was there for a week in 2000, but I was in a hotel in the Flathead Lake area and drove to Glacier NP and then at the St Mary's Motel on the east side. I do know there is a KOA campground in St Mary's on the east side of Glacier National Park and it was pretty full when I was there and it was late Septemberand snowing so hard I left when they ran us out of the park and went to Yellowstone.

Glacier NP is one of those parks that is on my need to go back list. This is an area you would want to take a couple of weeks to see!

I made reservations for the KOA in West Glacier, got some good reviews and recommendations from a couple other RV'ers.
