Yuma AZ Campgrounds

Looking for a recommendation for a nice campground in Yuma, AZ for this winter. We’re thinking of heading there first than later working our way up the Colorado River and than over to the Four Corners area.

Jim, we are in Yuma this week, leaving tomorrow. We are traveling through the area by car/motel and will return to the southwest in January with our fifth wheel. It depends on what you are looking for in an RV site. Some like the Cocopah RV Resort are a few miles out of town and have a nice golf course and the extra costs that go with it. Others are closer to town and in town and have from several hundred sites to a little as 100 sites, some are 55+ only and others are not. There are over 40 RV parks in the area and my advice is to call when you get within a few days of arriving in Yuma and find one with space for a few days. That gives you time to drive around and find a site that meets your expectations and then you can reserve for the time that you want. After January 1 the town starts to fill up fast and sites are harder to find. One that we have used for staging for a few days to a couple of weeks is the Rivers Edge across the border from Yuma. There are also several RV parks east of Yuma along the Foothill area that is not all that far out of the Yuma metro area. Right now all the RV parks are only about 1/4 to 1/3 occupied but everyday more and more RVs are pulling into town. Hope you can find something that works well for you. Thanks for the great report. As we study Yuma we see there lots of choices in the area. Yesterday I called Cocopah RV Resort and they are full for the time we want to be there, which is the end of January and staying a month.
