Chicago (Great Lakes) Info Needed

Post by cajunabear »

Our daughter is leaving for Navy Boot Camp in about a week (the third of our three daughters to join the Navy). She should be graduating in mid September. Can anyone give us the names of a few nice campgrounds close to the Naval Training Center in the Great Lakes area? She will have two days off after graduation but has to return to base each evening, so distance is an issue. Informationn on the internet for that area seems to be pretty scarce. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks!

Check out this link http://www.militarycampgrounds.us/compo ... ing-Center

Its part of the Retired Military Campground system. I talked to them and they said if you have a son/daughter graduating from boot camp they will make provisions for you to stay for that period of time... even tho you do not meet the Retired Military/DOD requirements. On the link you can find their phone number and give them a call... they do recommend reservations. They also said that the majority of their visitors are there for a "Boot Camp Graduation". I hope this helps. Its called Great Lakes Naval Training Center Campground.

Good Luck, Jim
