For those of you that camp on the coast of Oregon can you recommend a few nice campgrounds that over look the ocean. We are going to be staying at the Port of Brooking , Or. from the 8th of Aug to the 24th. That's right on the beach, but we need to know of others north of that for the trip down to Brooking. HELP! Soon, we heading in that direction tomorrow from Montana. Also has anyone stayed in Cour D'Alene, Id.

Thanks for the help

Hi Mike and Joanne
We just stayed at Blackwell Island RV Resort in Cour D' Alene , a great place I think you will like the park it is right on the lake. On the Oregon coast we like Beverly State Park in Newport huge sites with full hookups, it is not on right on the ocean but there is a path down to the beach, if you stay there say hi to Nick and Judy they are campground host and friends of ours. In Newport there is a great Aquarium to see.

Thank you Torben, we just tried to get into the Blackwelll Island Park, but they were full. They said there is a big Arts Festival this weekend and directed up to another park just down the road. So we are at River-walk RV Park. Very nice people at both parks. We're going to spend a few days here and then we are going to Aurora, Oregon to visit with some friends and then head for the coast. I'm going to try to get into the Beverley Beach Park. You and several friends have told us about that park. Thanks for the info its greatly appreciated.

Take care

Mike and Jo Anne I'm curious, how many days have you been on the road since we saw you at the Jackson rally?

Hi Rob,
We left Jackson Rancheria on May 4, so if my math is right as of today we've been traveling 86 days. Its been a great trip so far, no problems with the truck or rig. I'm knocking on wood as I say that. We will be returning home around the first week in Sept. Its still pretty hot in California so we're not looking forward to the heat. On the other hand we are heading towards the Portland area and I hear they are having a heatwave so I guess we're not escaping the hot weather after all. This whole trip has been done in nice comfortable weather, a few thunder storms now and then to make it interesting. We are really looking forward to staying in Brookings, Oregon, we'll be there for a couple of weeks and we can just relax and watch the waves and hopefully do some ocean fishing. While we're there they are having a big Kite festival and also a art festival. We've made most of this trip without making advanced reservations, only a phone call many time's on the day of arrival, so we've been pretty lucky doing that. We've taken care of all the bill's online and we have someone picking up our mail.

Take care

Jo Anne and Mike

Wow, 86 days so far, that's pretty cool. I envy you guys and hope that one of these years we'll be able to do the same thing.

Its really nice not having to hurry through area's. We are actually repeating some of the trips that we went on before when we had to hurry and get back home to work. But we always said that when we retire we'll come back and take our time. We figure we'd better do this while we can health wise, because we know that the day will come when we won't be able to handle the driving and the set ups, etc. This has always been a dream for us, so we feel blessed that its come about. I hope everyone gets to do this one day.

Take care and Happy Traveling

That's exactly how I feel. I'm retiring a few years earlier than I planned just so we can give this RV traveling a try while we're still healthy enough to do it and enjoy it.

Thanks guys, I just convince Mike that we should do the mail run. I told him it was on my Bucket List and it was a must do. =)) We are heading for Newport tomorrow for 2 nights and then to Coos Bay for 2 nights , we'll be at the Mill Casino RV park and then to The Port of Brookings for about 2 weeks. Haven't decided exactly how long yet.
Take care and safe traveling, and I can't wait to do the mail run.

When you are in Coos Bay another great place to stay is Sunset State Park in Charleston, full hookup state park right of the water if you can't get in at least drive out and watch the sunset out over the bay.

We tried to get into Sunset Beach and several other and they were full. Even Beverly Beach was full. I think everyone is trying to finish off the summer vacations before school starts. We feel lucky to have found the RV parks that we have. Lots of traffic and tourist and the weather is great, nice and cool and refreshing.
We are at The Port of Newport for a couple of nights. We have a view of the Marina and we are right around the corner from the Aquarium, which were going to see tomorrow. We saw a Cardinal today on our way here and waved like mad at them but they looked at us as if we were nuts, :D

Take care
