As mentioned before, we're going to pick up our first ever RV from a dealership in Alvin, TX on Friday. We'd like to stop in the Lake Charles/ Port Arthur area on our way back to Baton Rouge. Anyone ever stay at the Jellystone Campground in Lake Charles? Care to recommend another in the area?
Thanks,
The Bourques

I have not stopped in that area, but had pretty good experiences with the Jellystone chain in the past. Is the dealer in Alvin Terry Vaughn? If so that is where we bought ours back in 2005.

Yes, it's Terry Vaughn! Got to actually meet him in person when we were there signing papers last week. One of the nicest, most humble people. Actually, everyone there has been great. You think it was the ice chest of boudin we brought for our salesman and service tech? Umm, so good. If you're ever on I-10 near Lafayette make sure you exit at the Cankton/ Scott exit for the BEST boudin (regular or smoked), smoked chicken sausage, and cracklins EVER! Very spicy, but nothing a cold beer can't soothe!!!

I like the way Terry does business, no BS, make him an offer and he either takes it or does not. Very simple and always reasonable! Bought another brand of 5er from him first then traded it on the bird. Been to exit 95 many times, do you get the boudin at the little stop shop north of 10 or Don's Meats on the south side?Bourquefam wrote:Yes, it's Terry Vaughn! hey bourques, there is a very nice campground in kinder, coushatta luxury rv resort. take exit 44 on I-10 and go north a few miles. It's a casino resort and very nice. all concrete, big level pull-thrus and all the amenities. for a newbie pulling his 1st fiver that long level pull-thru really makes it nice! the only drawback is the lack of shade. they planted a lot of trees, but it's gonna take a while to get shady! we've been to several casino resorts and we don't even gamble! but generally speaking a casino campground is going to be 1st class. good luck!
