Michigan to Cherokee NC with I-40 closed

We will be going to NC for spring break. Is there a good way to get there without going through the National Park.

I assume you'll be coming down I-75. When you hit Knoxville, take I-81 North to I-26 which will take you into Ashville, NC. I-40 is closed at the TN/NC border.

Never noticed the posted clearance since I never towed across the park, but the underpasses seem low.
