OK I have the seriously easiest way across the Rockies ( a bit south of the intended trail ) crossed the continental Divide today on I-10 at 4885 feet. :D

Bruce, is that the spot with the rest area in all the rocks? It's the only place on I-10 that has any elevation to it at all? If so I didn't even know that it was the continental divide.

That reminds me I have a retired friend from work, 68 years old that is in the process of hiking the complete Continental Divide in the U.S. in three summers. This will be his last summer. He started in the south and is hiking north. Has far more ambition than I have, and of course is in far better shape.

Jim I think that is a rest area in AZ, the divide here in NM actually is in a high flats area and the sign is the only reason you would know.

That's right you're heading east from Rodeo and want I'm thinking about is west of where you were staying. Still can't place it, but that rest stop in AZ in a nice one.

You and Sharon have a save trip home, and try and not work to hard. :-H

Jim,
There is a rest stop on I-40 just east of Flagstaff that is in the Rocks and they use the rocks as part of the shelters and bathroom walls. Could that be the one you are thinking of?

No, the one I'm thinking of is just into Arizona on I-10 as you are coming from New Mexico.

Glad to see this post because planning a trip to Keystone area. The loveland Pass photo puts things into perspective.
Has anyone camped along the I-70 route in the mountains? I am looking for a couple nice places to stay.
