Campground in West Virginia

Post by Motel9 »

It seems that my research for campgrounds in West Virginia are at a standstill. I am looking for a private campground with W-S-E and a pull thru site and reasonable in price. I will be going from Morgantown, WV to Huntington, WV this summer. I know that there is a campground in Milton, but it is overpriced to me at $40 a night. WV really does not have many attractions besides state parks from what I can tell.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks,

There is Jims Campground in Milton Wv with a rate of $14 in 2010. Check out the website below and see if any of the other areas you might want to stay are rated.

What area are you wanting stay? I would not reccomend Jim's. It is kind of out of the way and has more permenant sites than overnight. If you can stay at Flatwoods WV, about 60 miles north of Charleston there is a nice Campground right off the exit. It is not cheap but is all pull throughs with full hook ups. I think the name is Flatwoods RV Park. It is behind the Days Inn Hotel, but you can not see the Hotel from the campground. It is about 3 years old and very well maintained. Don't take a chance on the State Parks or Army Corps campgrounds without reservations if you will be there on a weekend. How long are you going to stay and what do you want to be close to?

Thanks for all your input. We have altered our plans and will be staying for just one night at the Huntington Fox Fire KOA in Milton. Has anyone stayed there? It is a little pricey, but 1 night won't do much damage to the pocketbook. We are saving $$ on other campgrounds along our trip. It more-or-less evens out in the end. :)

I have stayed there. It is a nice campground but kind of noisey because it is close to I64. I stayed there because they have a lot of things for the kids, including a water park and fishing lakes. It is also close to anything that you need, shopping mall and eating places if you don't want to cook.
