Diamond hunters at Arkansas' Crater of Diamonds State Park have had a good year with more than 500 diamonds found, 30 more than a carat each. The largest scaled in at 8.66 carats. The record diamond for the park was a 16.37-carat whopper found in 1975 called Amarillo Starlight. The park's policy is "finders keepers."

We had planned to go there when we left the Southern Rally in Vidalia, Louisiana back in 2009, but it was raining so hard that we called before we got there and they said it was open but they discouraged anyone from coming because it was really really muddy. So we headed south to Houston and San Antonio Texas instead and probably missed finding one of those 1 carat diamonds.
