Grand Canyon Campground recommendations

Post by Samsbird »

We are planning a trip to the grand canyon this summer and would like to hear from you guys that have experienced the campgrounds in that area. We are looking for something with full hookups, thanks in advance.

Trailer Village (NPS) is the only one with hook ups in Grand Canyon National Park and it fills up very fast for the summer so if you are going to go during the summer you should make reservations as soon as you have established the dates you will be there.

Grand Canyon Camper Village is a private RV park in Tusayan which is about 2 miles outside the National Park entrance and has 200 spaces with full hook up. It is an older park and is all dirt and when we were there the 2 years ago there was some electrical issues but they were in the process of updating the entire electrical system within the campground one section at a time which should be complete now.

There are at least 6 campgrounds with full hook up in Williams AZ which is about 70 miles south of the park. We have stayed at Canyon Gateway RV Park and it is crushed red rock. All of the amenities were good while we were there but it has been at least 8 years since we stayed there.

We stayed at Grand Canyon Camper Village this past September (THANKS, Don!) and it was very nice - walking distance to several shops, dining choices, and small grocery, fuel, etc. We drove into the park (just a couple of miles) and then took the FREE shuttle to all of the points of interest - on/off as often as you wished, there was a shuttle about every 15 minutes. The RV park was not FAB, but not bad, either. Wifi not great, but we weren't there much, anyway.. Sites were level and gravel. We enjoyed our stay.... and the SCENERY was to DIE for!!!!

Travel Safe! and Enjoy! Donna
