Bull Run Regional Park campground, VA

Post by Shields »

We stayed at this campground the first week of may. Quite occupied as there was a civil war reenactment in the area, so we had to settle for an electric only site, 30 amp. It did keep our lights on, but as soon as we used an appliance, i.e. microwave, voltage dropped to less than 100 volts. A nice park otherwise, but beware of the electrical service.

I have toured this campground but never camped there. I found the layout to be very strange with semi circle sites very close to the road. The electric and water hookups on most sites were often on the wrong side and you have cords or hoses across your patio area. A park ranger told me that the layout was not designed by a camper. I would highly recommend Candy Hill Campground which is located north of Front Royal. I stayed there for 10 days and enjoyed it very much even with 100+ degree weather and a two day power outage becaue of a storm which blew a transformer.
