Sinking couch

Has anyone had any problems with their couch sinking? Our 30WB is a 2006 and our couch was sinking toward the middle so bad my husband put boards under the cushions to firm it up. It helped some but the cushions are still sinking toward the middle.

I haven't had the problem yet, is yours a hide a bed? sounds like a warranty issue.

I have had my trailer a couple of years and have not had that problem.

The couch is not very well supported in the center like a regular couch for your house because of the hide-a-bed feature. I had a couch with the pull out bed in an apartment when we first got married and it sank in the middle after a couple of years of sitting on it all the time.

We cut a piece of plywood the width of the mattress and just rested it on the frame but allowed it to fold. Covered it with material to prevent splinters and put it in the mattress where it folded.

Boy that is taking me back a few years decades!!

Yes, the couch is a hide a bed but have never used it for a bed yet so that isn't the problem. It is at the dealer now for some other adjustments so am anxious to see what they determine is the couch problem. Oh - the other thing it is there for is when coming back from Arizona in March we had insulation flying out the back. When we stopped to investigate one big sheet of sheet metal in the underbelly all the screws had come loose and it was flopping allowing insulation to fly out. Upon investigation all the screws on the rest of the underbelly were loosening up too. What an experience!! Our 1 year warrently expired in feb so will see what they do.

Our back cushions tend to sink in as well. I like the look of the newer couches.

If you are not an old geezer like I am and can still wiggle under the belly of the trailer, you can remove the screws one at a time and apply a thread lock or some kind of adhesive/sealant on the screw's head to keep them from vibrating loose. I have screws that continually back out and even have some backing out on the plastic surround at the entry steps.

Over-zealous factory workers really put the torque to some of these self-tapping and self-drilling screws and sometimes spin them after they have bottomed out and it strips the holes out. Some you may have to relocate in order to get fresh metal or go one size over on the screw.

As far as the sofa goes, I searched all over mine for a brand name and could only come up with the name of the company that makes the iron works for the fold out bed. I went to their website and they do offer some accessories such as better mattresses. Mine is about 2 inches thick. Sleeping on a sheet of toilet paper is more comfortable than those paper thin mattresses they have.

Maybe a thicker mattress will help bouy up the sofa cushions. It makes no difference if you have never used the bed before, all the weight above still squashes down on what is below. Check the bed's frame to be sure it has not been somehow bent.

For some reason Cardinal/Forest River did not use Flexsteel RV furniture. My two recliner/rockers are made by a popular furniture factory in the midwest called Mastercraft.
