Does it need lubing?

On my big slide out there is a pair of racks underneath the floor. The slideout, of course, is drawn in and pushed out by an hydraulic ram. I assume the racks are to keep the slideout "on track", square, and even like guides as it moves in and out.

Question: do these racks engage a gear of some kind and do they need to be greased?

I don't grease them but I do use "slide lube" on them.
Here is one product:

This one is at all the camping supply stores and sometimes you can find it at Wally World.

I just lubed mine today, was making a real racket. I use a little spray on Lithium grease made a huge difference.

Okay, thanks for that! I shall grease them because I do hear squeaks when they go in and out.

At work we use Dri-Slide https://www.russack.com/index.php for our forklifts and pallet trucks. They make greases and dry sprays too.

Be careful using grease as it will attract dust which will in turn promote wear. I just use a light lube of WD-40 or silicone spray lube and do it when the rig will sit a couple days to avoid clogging it up with road dust.
