Two-Step Awning

Post by djd93 »

As you can see I had problems with my 37rl two-step awning. Being in the service side with autos I figured someone had an answer. Come to find out the new awings have a different lock to as DOMETIC states "Almost imposible for this to happen again" They also suggested to use an aftermarket system to make me feel at ease traveling. I will be using one from now on. If I had an older awning I know I would get something to make it more secure. A 20ft metal tube attached to a sail is no fun to fight. Why not be safe.

Awning

Post by Don Wilson »

Djd93,

I have taken some 14 inch long velcro straps and wrap them around the arms for the awning. They go around the arms three times and I have not had the straps come loose and have pulled the trailer 1200 miles from New Mexico to California on a three different occasions. They may not hold if the awning came loose going down the road in a strong wind but they have given me peace of mind!

Concur with Don, double sided velcro strips work wonders for holding items.

Guess I have been lucky been in 40 mph + head winds and never had a problem with any of my awnings. Kind of lost here have the locks changed that much over the years?

Mike the locks have not changed. On my old trailer they came lose and it didn't open but I saw it in the mirror. I had the velcro straps and wrapped them and never had another problem.
