airlock when filling water tank?

Post by markj »

on my 31RK, I sometimes get an airlock (I think) when trying to fill the fresh water tank. The dealer said to unscrew the drain pipes, and it seemed to work, but I couldn't get it to accept water yesterday. Backed up out the spout! Does anyone else have this problem? Best fix? Thanks. Mark

Sounds like a vent tube could possibly be kinked.

Hi Mark, like Wally said, it sure sounds like the air you're displacing is not finding a way out. I'm afraid I don't know where the vent is located. I would suspect on the roof toward the back of the trailer but I don't know for certain. I'm sure there are others here that do know and will chiming in shortly. BTW, how full does the tank get when this starts happening?

It does it from the get go. The tank light showed one light on--maybe 1/4 full this time.

I know this may seem like a silly question but is there any chance that the tank is full and the indicator is wrong? Just a thought, I wouldn't put any money on it.

You could have a kinked intake hose also or an obstruction.

Hello I have the same rig and have had the same thing happen to me twice at home and once at the campground. The dealer told me that some times the vent tube nest to the fill hole gets water in it and to blow it out with pressureized air. The one time I was able to blow it out by hand. Good luck and keep us posted. Brent

It happens to ours regularly. I just let it bubble out, put the hose back in and if then fills without problem.
