Hi Gerry,
I had something very similar happen with the plastic levlers! I used to drop the plastic levelers in the back of the pickup until I was driving about 55 miles per hour and looked in the rear view mirror and saw the plastic levelers swirling in the air like they were in a vortex! I was able to slow down and have them drop back into the bed before any flew out.
