Hi folks. Thanks for your input on new tires. I bought 235/85R16's to replace my 235/80R16's. Michelin XPS Ribs. Beautiful tires--they "look" so much beefier than those crapy Karrier's! They are noticable larger--now I have about 1.5" between the tires instead of the 2.5". I have over an inch clearance at the top/sides. Now I won't be tempted to constantly watch my mirrors for a blowout!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Deal--I bought them from Discount tires--with a $60 coupon and $10 per tire allowance on my Karrier's (couldn't pass that up!), they were about $100 LESS than Costco!

I know what you mean. The peace of mind is worth every penny I spent on the XPS tires.

I bought mine from Discount Tires also, but in California it cost $13 per tire to get rid of 'em!

That is the same tires I bought for our 30WB, been very happy with them.

I'm curious if you folks who have these Michelin's in the 85 size have the distrance between the tires noticably closer? Like 1.5" vs. 2.5" with the 80's?

Mine had 85's on it from the factory, so I have basically the same clearances with the Michelins. About 1 1/2 inches between the the tires.
The only problem I have found with this clearance is getting wheel chocks that fit. Sure do like my Michelins.

With the 85s, the distance is much less and that is where ROTOCHOKs work the best.

If I bought a set of Rotochok's for my 80's will they still work if I put 85's on?

The choks for the 80s are a bit too big for the 85. Contact the folks at ROTOCHOK and you can purchase just the smaller wedges from them. I had the smaller wedges with the OEM 85s, then the Kenda swapout dropped them down to 80 so I had to order the bigger wedges and now that I am using Firestone 85s, changed out to the smaller choks again. Nobody has ever said the RVing is cheap.
