Wheel Bearings

Post by Robert »

What does conventional wisdom recommend with regard to repacking wheel bearings on 5th wheel RV's? I assume that Cardinal does not use sealed bearings. Am I correct? Just wondering for the future.

Robert,

No the are not sealed!

The recommendation from Cardinal is 12,000 miles but there is discussion in the technical portion of the Fifth Wheel and TT at the bottom section of the Forum Index called Wheel Bearing/Brake Maintenance.

Most of the newer (mine is a 2004 ) fifth wheel trailers have grease zerts/zerks on the spindle that allows you to lube the bearings without pulling the bearings out. It is a matter of opinion on the mileage or time period. You can read that post and get the input and form your own lube schedule.
