Fuel Additive
We are in the planning stages of our first long trip with the Bird. My question to the other diesel drivers out there is, how often you put additive in your fuel when you are on the road. My normal habit is to add some at every fill-up, but haven't been on the road for an extended period yet.

I use Deisel Kleen + Cetane Boost in every tank. I understand that additive sold by Ford is also pretty good. Had problems with the EGR valve coking up until I started using it. No problems since and I have noticed a small increase in MPG, quicker starting , and seems to run quieter.

Re: Fuel Additive
Diesel Fuel has a lower Flash Point than Gasoline so in Oregon ( according to Oregon Law ) You Can pump yourself....But only Diesel..

Re: Fuel Additive
Not all stations allow you to do it. This is an old topic but in the Portland area now it a 10% bio blend so you do not need anything else.

You guys got French Fry powered trucks in Portland area?Mike Clay wrote:Not all stations allow you to do it. This is an old topic but in the Portland area now it a 10% bio blend so you do not need anything else.
Watch what you use as a additive. Some help and some do not. I use WallyWorld 2 cycle oil in my old 2001.5, it is not good for the post 2007.5 engines.
