Check your Exhaust Fuid???

Post by bfast54 »

OK, I went to the Detroit Auto Show, a couple of weeks ago, and cought up on the "Newest Buzz" auto/truck wise. Can you Believe they are now using Disel Exhaust Fluid,(D.E.F.) in the upcomming 2011 Trucks, I.E. Ford, and Dodge !!!!!!
It works in the Exhaust to combine with the emissions , and through VO-DOO magic, :shock: It changes the Exhaust Nitric Oxide, into Nitrigen, and Water!! :-B

I am sure most of us remember the old "your Muffler Bearing needs replaced", or "Your blinker fluid is low" ..well coming soon ......."Your Exhaust Fluid could be low"

What say you all..............Have we finally LOST IT ????????????????? 8-}

Many rigs are using similar systems. Company I work for has several newer tractors using a "regen" system with urea and water.

From what I understand the 2011 Cummins will have urea. The 2010 does not. From what the Dodge dealer told me this week the 2011 Models will be out early this year. I like the 2010s but the boss says not yet.

Yeah, it may be the time to buy a new Dodge.

This does not say what is going to happen in 2011.

I would really like to find a low mile 4x4 quad cab, six speed manual, long box 2006-2007 5.9 Laramie model Dodge 3500 single rear wheel.

And ain't THAT gonna be interesting until the stations/parts stores in Podunk, USA start carrying urea. And you have used the last of your supply up. :roll:

You will be able to buy it and fill the tank yourself but still what a hassle. I know with the Chevy trucks you will get three warnings: getting low, low, out and now in limp mode :(

Urea!!! That's the stuff they used to try and blow up the World Trade Center. You will probably have to get some type of special license to purchase the stuff and then they will charge some type of tax. What will they think of next?

DEF is a high purity solution of 32.5% urea in deionized water. Urea is a colorless, odorless, non-hazardous, non-flammable, non-combustible crystalline solid made from natural gas, with a molecular weight of 60 and molecular formula of (NH2)2CO. Urea is a very large commodity with about 130 million tons used globally as a fertilizer. The Engine Manufacturers Association has estimated the US DEF demand at 50 million gallons in 2010 rising to 750 million gallons in 2015 and 1.3 billion gallons in 2019.
