Thanks for all the comments. This one has the 20"wheels as well as every other conceivable option. When I saw it I could not tell it from new. Not a mark anywhere. Got an Oasis report and it to is a great indicator of zero problems history wise. Could not pass this one up as we have been looking for a while and the V10,s which I was looking for are very rare here. I may be a deisel convert yet.

Congratulations on your find. If I ever decide to upgrade I would get the King Ranch.

What color is the truck, it sure sounds like you describing the truck I just traded in about the same miles and 20" factory wheels with Good Year tires, no problems ever in the service report.
Just wonder if it made up your way.

George,

It's white with gold lower accent. Originally shows from Alberta dealership. If it was yours or not why did you trade so soon? What kind of mileage can I expect
Thanks

Mine was Arizona Beige, I just wanted a new toy to play with and I had a little problem with stopping not pulling to 39' Bird.
I got about 15-17 without the 5th wheel and about 10- 12 pulling the 5th wheel.

I am about to give up. Due to Ontario laws this personal use vehicle is treated like a commercial transport. Licence fees would be $350 a year rather than $72, and manditory safety every 12 months at $100 minimum, emission test annually. so I have regretfully gotten out of the deal and will search again for a 3/4 ton pickup which has rating below the higher fee schedules. Cannot justify $$ for the 30-40 nights camping yet. Perhaps when we start full timing it in 4-5 yrs my outlook will change.
Also picked this trailer to get below transport driver license requirements, daily log book regulations etc now this BS.
I wonder how many people either drive illegally in Canada or are ignorant to all the rules and regs.
Certainly a huge learning experience for me.
They don;t tell you all the requirements at RV shows as that would hurt sales even more

I went through almost the some problems stepping up to the Medium Duty truck here in WA. had to sign papers stating what truck would be hauling, they wanted hazard signs put on the truck, weight labels on truck, higher taxes and plate cost. I was having a fit because I already bought the truck and now the trucks weight put it in a commercial class.
It took a lot of talking and question answering to get it corrected for standard taxes and plates.

Guess it varies by state down here in the US then. I had none of the problems George did. $11.50 state inspection (same as any pickup) and license fees about $40 more per year than a dually due to increased weight rating (Freightliner has it listed as 19,500 lb GVWR). Might be due to the fact I did it in Livingston TX, the home base of Escapees RV Club whose members have lots of medium duties.

Sorry to hear about your issues, Manitoba not much better. Have to safety my truck once a year about $150.00 this year. Also had to upgrade my drivers license's to a Class 3 because of the weight of the trailer, had to take both a written & driving test. The RV dealer I bought my trailer from would not let me take the unit off the lot with out the license upgrade. I actually paid someone to go through the pre-trip inspection & road test with me. With out this I would never had passed the actual pre-trip inspection & driven test the first time.

Grape Escape,
From what you've said I am assuming that the truck you were wanting to buy was a SRW 4X4 is that right? If so aren't you going to have the same problem with a 3/4 ton, especially since the Ford 3/4 ton and 1 ton are basically the same truck with the overload springs being the main difference. Unfortunately it takes a substantial truck to pull a trailer like you've purchased and I'm afraid the government regulators are going to keep piling on regulations which are going to make it more and more difficult for us to pursue the RV lifestyle we all enjoy. It's just like the high fuel prices we faced this past summer, most of us didn't give up our trips, we just adjusted where we went. The heavier truck may be more expensive, but it will make your trips safer and more enjoyable.
Good luck on what ever you finally decide.

The only difference between the F250 and the SRW F350 is a 4" rear space block on the F350 and a 2" block on the F250. Ironically you can get a F350 SRW with the 2' block and it still a F350 with the additional GVWR, go figure. I have to wonder if the only reason Ford keeps the F250 around is because of the way some states/provinces regulate 3/4 vs 1 ton trucks. The DRW F350 has different springs they are a bit thicker but same width and length.

I realise how little the differences are between the two models but in the eyes of Ministry of Transportation it puts the truck into a higher category due to the RGVW. The F250 will serve my needs and I would have been quite happy with the F350 but $$$ will be deciding factor unfortunately

I've noticed in reading all the posts that if you're running 4:33 gears, V10 or diesel (6.0 or 6.4) the mileage is about the same towing. I get at best, 9.7 mpg towing on flat roads and 11 mpg local with my V10. But I keep the RPM around 2000/58 mph towing. Even empty, with 4:33 gears, if I cruise over 65 - good bye gas mileage.

OBTW - the transmission is not Allison. Ford makes their own, I love the compression braking in TOW/HAUL on the downgrades. 35000 miles + now, mostly towing and my brake pads are still in great shape. I also have a work truck, a 2008 F250 4X4 that I put 43000 miles on in one year, with a 5.4 V8. Lots of freeway driving and on dirt roads along railroad tracks or up mountains to radio sites. It also gets 11 mpg with 3:73 (?) gears at freeway speeds, and it is severely underpowered for any towing.

Funny! My tow rig is a 99 f350 v-10 with 430 gears and my work truck is a 99 f250 with the 5.4 but with 410 gears and 35 in tires, after 210000 miles the 250 still gets 11.5 mpg no matter where or how I drive and after 65000 miles the 350 gets....... oooh who cares it flies and pulls like an animal, BSEG club, are you a member? :thumbrt: Remember He who buys a vehicle with 8 lugs or more forfeits the right to "economy"
