A/C quit working

Post by Don Wilson »

My A/C quit putting out cold air just before my trip to New Mexico fortunately it was before the hot spell they have had. I probably should have gotten it fixed there but I didn't. I got it in to the Dodge dealer in Modesto CA on Tuesday. The compressor came apart internally and there was metal through out the whole a/c system. It cost me right at $1,800 to get everything replaced. I tried to get them to give me at least 15% off on the parts knowing they had at least a 75% markup on them. They would only give me $100 off. The good side of it is I am no longer using the 2/55 cooling unit and I now have cold air in the cab and Monty is so much happier!

Glad you got fixed Don. Sounds like your truck has about reached the point that it is nickle and dimeing you. Bout time to decide just how much more you can stand. Have you had to repair the transmission yet? Mine cost me $4500 and it still wasn't right. You may have to bite the bullet and start truck shopping. I saw a new style Dodge Megacab at Scoggin-Dickey Chev's used lot here in Lubbock that would make a great TV.

I shouldn't have razed you Don, the AC on my truck quit right after that post. Took it in to the Ford dealer and low and behold the liquid retun line had a hole rubbed in it. Of course the extended warranty people denied coverage. That was a $600=/- hit. The power in/out feature on my mirrors also quit, the warranty covered that, at first they thought it was the switch assembly, but it turned out to be in the mirrors themselves and the warranty co covered the replacement cost of over $2500, so I was much happier with them. All is up and running now so we are starting to get ready to head for Goshen. See you there.
