We have a trip scheduled later this month of about 3000 plus miles. Since Dodge requires that new owners drive at least 500 miles without towing and then a minimum of 500 miles towing at 50 MPH MAX, we dicided to take a trip to just put the mileage on so as not o be bothered on the long trip. Driving at 50MPH makes for a miserable trip and I'm glad it's done with. As far as MPG goes we traveled 475 miles and averaged 10.467 over that distance. This was driving from 5400 ft. at home to 7374 ft at Flgstaff yo 4300 ft. at Page,AZ.and return. I have been reassured by several Diesel drivers that this mileage will improve with additional miles on the truck, most are saying anywhere from 16 to 20K before you show improvement. I sure hope they are right. Nevertheless this is still a 39.56% imprvement over my average towing mileage on my '94 Ford F-250 with tha 460 cuin. Gas engine, so all is not lost. I also added the Drexel Suspesion Kit and the 5TH Airborne Hitch.
Regards to All----Jim

Mileage sounds about right Jim, but both my previous CTDs showed mileage increase at about 9 to 10K miles. My 05 dually with 4.10 rear end and a heavy 34TS (full-time load) got about 10.5 on average, with a 30LE I would hope for about 11.5 or 12, possibly more if you have the 3.73 rear end. I miss that 10.5, the new duramax is getting 9.6 so far, but I do weigh in at over 22,500lbs with both fuel tanks full and only 6K miles on the truck.
