Expect a dramatic rise in cost of diesel in the next year

Post by watkinsk »

Evidently ships at sea have to convert to the low sulpher diesel that our trucks use today. This will be a huge impact on demand and drive costs up. How much?????

I read the article and I must say what could the UN do to enforce this edit? How will they enforce it. Not that it is a bad thing.
But will the UN force China or Russia or Africa to change the ships engine? Once again is it the best solution? Is it phased in and what effect on business will this have. Remember Socialism cant exist without capitalism as they will run out of money. When you shut off supply no one can buy anything can they. Kinda like Venezuela??? No business, no buy, no profit therefore comrade NO JOBS!!! Glad we have a trailer but then if AOC gets her new green deal we will get rid of fossil fuels.

Such pessimism about the Green New Deal  I am looking forward to trading my F350 Diesel for an Electric Vehicle that can tow my 14000 lb rig 500 miles / day. I hope AOC also mandates that I get full value for the Diesel Truck!

I read that article too. I dont share the pessimism though. We all heard similar horror stories when OTR semi trucks were forced to clean diesel too.

if it affects diesel prices, it will affect gasoline prices as well. refiners will reduce the amount of low sulfur "diesel" being converted to gasoline.

Biodiesel is starting to become available on a larger scale and several cement companies here in California have converted half of their fleets over and Amtrak California has converted several of its engines as well and both have been pleased with the results.. The only issue right now is there are no refineries in the U,S,so it is coming from Singapore. The company would like to build a refinery in CA but the CA EPA requirements make it very expensive!

in Lake Charles, la, there was a plant being built that makes diesel from natural gas. that part was put on hold when crude oil priced dropped. the rest of the plant is under construction.

The operations manager said it was an inexpensive process but did not give details but the trucks the converted were all newer trucks less than 4 years old,

I thought the only problem with biodiesel was the water it can hold.
Test have shown that the bio produced better milage than reg diesel.
