Diamond T Update - Dennis Balfanz

Post by Don Wilson »

I had a conversation with Dennis Balfanz earlier this week and during the conversation I asked about the status of the Diamond T and he offered to send me a few pictures so I could update the Cardinal Members.

Here is a view of the front of the Diamond T

Looking good Dennis.

Any chance we will see it at the national this year? If not I may have to stop and see it on the way back.

One thing he brought up in our conversation is he is having difficulty with the seals that go around the head lights. The person who used to make the seals retired so he had to send them to another guy and it took three years before he got them and they did not fit. In order to make the new ones they had to cut the old one in pieces so he is now talking about making a sample out of molding clay in order to get new ones made.

A true labor of love. The talent it takes to restore something like that truck can only be admired and appreciated not duplicated.

Good going Dennis. I think I see some Donna work on the truck too.

One big feature to keep in mind, and makes me appreciate Dennis’ talent; the original truck was a 2 door standard cab. He found a second truck, cut it apart, married them to create the dual cab and stretched the frame to accommodate the modifications. I think the yellow badge between the doors “Custom Built by Dennis Belfanz” is priceless and very appropriate! What he didn’t have he has fabricated.

I think we should have a rally at their home just to see the truck. I will bring the scotch.
