Turbo Charger Codes

Post by Don Wilson »

I had a check engine light come on and when I took it in to Ripon Auto Repair the codes were P205 which is a Power Input Signal intermittent which came up because my batteries were weak which I replaced a few weeks ago and the check engine light went off by itself. The other code was U010C which wound up being a Lost Communication with the Turbocharger/Supercharger Control Module. In simple language the Turbocharger and the Variable Geometry Actuator were not talking to each other, which meant I needed to replace the turbocharger.
They come as a single unit and were $2,844 for the turbo and VGA and labor to diagnose $100 and and $907 to remove and replace.
So $4,111.83 I am back on the road with better boast.

Varoom! Zoom! You'll be PUSHING us through the Oregon and Washington Cascades on the way to Leavenworth in June. Glad it happened while you were home and had a shop you were familiar with. :D

Someone needs to hit on a couple 50/50 raffles at the next couple of rallies to help ease the pain :d

Wow!! These things are really expensive to repair, almost everything on the road has a turbo now. I had to replace the battery in Carol's 2016 Edge and I could not believe it was close to $200 for the battery. I guess it shows my age when I say that I remember $20 batteries. Glad your truck is healthy again.

Randy,
I am in the same category as you about the prices for batteries but over the last few years seems that batteries certainly are getting expensive. I had to replace the 2 batteries for my pickup in early March and even though they are less costly at Costco they were still $322 and $165 for the two in the trailer in January.
