It was time

Post by dpalmer »

Last week the truck shut down and we had to be towed. Thankfully we were not towing. A fuel injector was leaking an had to be replaced. When I got the report that last statement was, the truck is running fine for now. We traded it in and got a new 2021 :bounce: :thumbrt:

It's a beauty!! Were you in Ohio, where you know which dealer to buy from? Could you find very many trucks to select from? It looks like you chose well. Roy

We are in Ohio, and not much to choose from. This was a good deal for us.

Dave sorry you had the problem with the white Ford but the new red Ford looks really nice.
The low inventory on trucks (actually any vehicles) is nationwide right now so I'm glad you were able to find a good replacement for the white one.

It is a beauty! Nice to have a reliable steed. That sure solved your Rear Main Seal leak. :D
As a side note/hijack, I have been reading about 6.4L Powerstrokes producing oil. The fuel injectors fail and pump excess fuel into the cylinders washing into the crankcase. The fluid level grows on the dipstick, plus it dilutes the oil and creates lubrication issues. Big cause seems to be shutting off the engine during a Regen cycle, and excess idling. Anything over 10 minutes is now considered excess idling. I know your "old" truck was a 6.7L, and I have not heard much about those failing. Duramax has a different Regen system. The have an extra injector in the exhaust down pipe rather than flooding the back two cylinders like Powerstroke does. Keep on Rolling!

Dave, what year was your old truck and how many miles did it have on it?
Did you get a better trade than you expected because of the shortage of used vehicles?
Love the red color of your new truck.

Keith, the old truck was a 2015, 113,400 miles and got close to what I paid for it 6 years ago. Extremely happy.

Thanks all, we love it. Starting to learn all the new technology. The hitch needs to be raised because the bed sides are taller and the old tonneau cover was 2" to short. Getting 17 mpg vs 14.5 :D

Looks good.

At least your trailer is newer and taller so it will work with the newer trucks. I started to look at new trucks a while back and discovered that the bed rail height is just a little higher than the overhang height of my trailer. So I have 3 choices: 1 new truck with an after market bed, 2 raise the trailer by flipping the axles, 3 Get the old truck fixed up (body wise) and keep on going. I think the trailer and truck manufacturers are working together to get you to buy both.
