2022 Ford Powerstroke NOX Sensor issues

Post by dfredendall »

On the heals of recent Dodge RAM/Cummins EPA emissions lawsuits;
I just had the Bi-annual smog/emissions test performed, for $55, on my 2018 F-350 Powerstroke, which I easily PASSED. Welcome to California for you who are confused so far.

The technician, who I have used for several years, urged me to “Keep my beautiful truck!” He said the 2022 Ford Powerstrokes are coming up this year for mandatory testing in CA. There are reported problems involving the NOX (Nitrous Oxide) Sensor and many cannot comply with smog standards. He is not sure if 2022 Powerstrokes can be tested and is not sure if standards are going to be available for them to test the trucks. He hinted it may turn into another Dodge RAM/Cummins issue. I sure hope not.

Leave it up to this state ! They absolutely hate Diesels and anything that runs on fossil fuels . CARB sucks to the max!

Interesting, I had a check last year and it was a, no test, check. Processed computer work and nothing else. Now, I have an older truck and that may be the reason.

My test involved no tail pipe emissions sniffer. Everything is done linking their computer to the OBDII and reading the truck’s computer(s). All other cars seem to perform the same way.
