Update on "07 Dodge 6.7 Diesel

Post by Jim&Peggy »

We now have 14K miles on the truck. We just completed a961 mile trip without the trailer. We used 55.412 Gallons of Diesl to go 961 miles for an average of 17.344 MPG. THis trip ran for altitde fro 6100 feet to sealevel and return. On the down hill leg our average was 21.09 MPG. Our uphill leg was 15.35 MPG We tried to travel at 60 MPH most of the time. Of course when we hit the L.A. freeways we had to go with the flow or die. I had one leg that was 442.3 miles long and used 17.429 gallons of fuel . with a 35 gallon tank that gives me a theoretical range of 607 miles. Thats a lot better than my old Ford F250 Gasser and the Ford had 37 gallon tanks. THe cost of euel was $263 15 for an average of $4.748 per gallon. I think I need to mount some Helium ballons on my trailer and see if I can get that sucker to float. But those 14 ft. over passes would probably become a problem !!
How does my mileage compare with the rest of you??? After 14K miles is it now broken in or can I expect improvement?? LOL-------regards Jim

I can't say nothing about my 6.7 yet, I don't even have 200 miles on it yet. On my '02, and '05 5.9's, it took between 15 and 20K for the mileage to settle in. On my '05, I ended up averaging 20 - 21 MPG highway running 70 MPH light. About 10.5 - 12 pulling the Bird, with 50K miles on the odometer.

You are getting better mileage than my 2006 5.9 with 6 speed. I average 18-19 highway without the trailer. First trip running 60 mph pulling my fiver i got 12.7 mpg. On the way home going between 65-70 I got 11.3. Still waiting for my mpg increase I only have 16k on mine so far.

I get between 10 to 12.8 mpg towing the fifth wheel.
It has around 7500 miles on it so far.
I have not drove any distance without the trailer so far.
