Tow Hitch for rear of bird

Post by wild acres »

I know some of you had a hitch added to the rear of your bird, just can't remember who had one. My question, did you order it from the factory, or have it made. I have the cap on the rear of my bird, so it has to reach pass that spot. Thanks in advance. John

John, Had mine added aftermarket by a local welding shop that specialized in hitches. They did a great job in one day and am very happy with it carrying my 650 Suzuki for over 15000 miles.

John, on our 05 our dealer Buffs RV installed the hitch i think it was about two hundred dollars to have it made and installed. On our 08 we ordered from the factory

John:

It's really no big deal. As others have said, any good welding shop can make and install a hitch for you. On our 2000 our dealer made and installed a boat hitch as at that time you could not get one from the factory. On our 2008 we ordered the factory hitch.

Ordered mine as an option from the factory. I use mine to carry my spare tire on a hitch mounted carrier since we had to relocate the spare tire from under the front of our bird when we had a generator installed up front.

This is a picture of the 2” hitch receiver I built and bolted to the main frame of the Cardinal, any welding shop can build one and install it. I built this one for my bikes but it is load rated to tow also.

We first need to go camping, camping has been slow for us this year with only two trips.
